A.L. Davidson (She/They) is an indie author who specializes in massive space operas and tiny disturbances.  She writes stories about ghosts, grief, isolation, folklore, queerness, monsterromance, space exploration, eco-horror, and the human condition.  Their work has appeared in several lit mags and will be featured in two upcoming anthologies in 2023.

Her favorite types of monsterlover stories are ones about werewolves, mythology, demons and priests, and horror-adjacent tales that ramp up the tension.

What Al Likes

While The Bestiary is open to stories of all kinds when it comes to monsterloving content, I want to be transparent about what I like in case you are uncertain about certain tropes/genres/concepts.  I will be reading/judging all entries fairly, so do not let this sway you from an idea you're passionate about - I read a wide variety of genres and am excited to see what you submit!  This is simply here to help those who want to submit but may not know where to start find some options and inspiration!

  • Werewolves

  • Mythology (especially Norse and Japanese)

  • Slow-burns that build up to intense intimate moments
